A saint patron of pregnancy, birth and farmers and also as patroness against floods and storms.
Iconographic Attributes: Saint Margaret is often depicted with a dragon or the image of a devil, referring to the legend of her duel with the monster that surrounded her.
Saint Margaret was born in the 3rd century in Antioch (now Antakya, Turkey). According to legend, she was the daughter of a pagan, but at the age of 15 she converted to Christianity. She also rejected marriage proposals due to her Christian beliefs. She was imprisoned and tortured because of her faith. According to tradition, she was sentenced to death by beheading in 304 during the reign of Emperor Diocletian.
