BGS 098 Dragon
Date: ???
Place of origin: ???
Symbolism: In Christian iconography, dragons often symbolized evil, sin and Satan. However, defeating the dragon, as in the case of St. George, symbolized the triumph of the Christian faith over paganism and heretical forces. Bagdes with the image of a dragon could therefore also be an expression of spiritual struggle and victory over temptations. Dragons were also a symbol of wisdom and supernatural abilities. In some myths, dragons were considered wise beings with mysterious knowledge. Bagdes with a dragon could therefore be worn as talismans providing wisdom and strength to the wearer.
